Steel grit is distinguished by granules that have a mostly angular shape. These grains have fractured portions and sharp edges since they were produced by crushing steel grit. It is also available in a variety of diameters and hardnesses and is harder than steel shot.
The process of "abrasive blasting," in which a substance is hurled at a base material at high speeds in order to remove material from it or prepare the surface for further work, is where steel grit is most frequently employed. Before applying a coating to a base material to enhance the coatings, this is frequently done to remove any unwelcome impurities or oxide layers.

Low Carbon Steel Grit in India
Since the impact energy is equally spread across the shots, low carbon steel shot has a greater capacity to absorb impacts. Low carbon steel shot's structural characteristics have an improved hardness, which improves cleaning performance when used. Perfect shots with the bainitic structures without cracks that are both impact and wear-resistant are created since the production procedure does not require subsequent heat treatment.
Low-carbon cast steel grit is produced from high-quality materials with low content of carbon (C), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and pure, precisely dosed alloying elements. The grain microstructure of low carbon steel grit is a compromise between its high hardness and grain durability and typical low wearing, which causes approx. 20 % higher durability. High quality of low-carbon grit can only be achieved by advanced technology and material discipline, very effective melting, and proper tempering heat treatment.
Advantages of low-carbon cast steel grit: higher durability in comparison with high-carbon steel shot for approx. 20-40%, lower dust emission, cost saving in wheel blasting machines operation e.g. lower turbine blades wear at least for approx. 30%. Low-carbon cast steel grit features a very low grain spending for cleaning the surface.
